PHILOSOPHY
I was inspired to pursue Bowen therapy after it helped heal my tennis elbow. After multiple attempts at other treatments, it was my saving grace, and since then I have aspired to help others in the pursuit of comfort and mobility in their own bodies.
I have since gained my qualifications as a fully certified Bowen therapist and have been practicing since 2013. I have gained further qualifications in equine Bowen therapy since 2014 and canine Bowen therapy in 2022 to share the joy in freedom of movement with humans and furry companions alike. I have ample experience with both humans and animals, having worked with all different body types, ages and levels of ability. This is a non-invasive practice and only requires contact over a thin layer of clothing. Below is further clarification of what a Bowen treatment entails so you can feel assured as to your expectations and results.
"When you touch one thing with deep awareness,
you touch everything."
- Lao Tzu
The Bowen Technique was developed in the 1950s by an Australian named Tom Bowen. He became interested in ways to alleviate human suffering and began to notice that certain moves on the body had particular effects. It wasn’t uncommon for Mr Bowen to perform 13,000 treatments a year with a high success rate.
Bowen technique is a non-intrusive complementary hand on holistic therapy that can be performed through light clothing using gentle moves with thumb and fingers over precise points of the body to encourage the body’s innate ability to relieve pain and repair.
It’s a safe gentle and relaxing therapy that’s suitable for all ages from babies through to the elderly, showing consistent positive results for many different conditions. Bowen moves stimulate the muscles and soft tissue thus creating stress release, better blood flow and relaxation of previous tension in the muscle groups which enables better movement leaving you feeling in alignment and allowing the body to find previous equilibrium.
